The Best Musics Awards

Welcome to the 2024 Best Musics Awards — the world's first awards show honoring exclusively non-human creations. We crafted the story, visuals, music and sound in this timely love letter to our community of music creators. As new technologies offer both opportunities and disruption, we set out to tell the lighthearted story of the joy of making music as a community. We do it because we love it.

Wilson Brown, Executive Creative Director

We wanted to craft a story to address the elephant in the room and hopefully appeal to our diverse community, regardless of which camp you stand in. While the film is irreverent, it aims to convey a few layers of commentary that touch on the nuance, absurdity and existential questions of the technological moment we're in. We wrote and produced a send-up that lampoons current tropes of generative AI, while also using tools and technology to build out an entire short film as a music and sound studio. It's amazing how the people we've shown have completely different takeaways. We just wanted to show that when it comes to making dumb art, AI and Artists are a dynamic duo.

We even recorded the iconic whistle in Sony Hall, to create an authentic experience and connect media and the live event.

We wanted to show that these tools are like an air fryer. We all thought they would take over all appliances, but all they did was make our day old McNuggets delicious again. Hopefully you enjoy this nugget we made for you.

Trevor Haimes, Senior Producer

"We are entering (another) pivotal time in music technology. As musicians and producers, we always find a way to survive during these times. You can embrace it, you can fight it, you can certainly make fun of it – and I think with this video we did all three of those things."

When faced with an uncertain future, sometimes clarity can be derived by extrapolating trends to their logical endpoints. Other times, this exercise just leads to making a silly video with your friends.
