Brawl Stars
Starr Park CCTV
To celebrate Brawl Stars' 5th anniversary, Supercell launched an engaging six-week interactive scavenger hunt. This event allowed players to delve into the game's backstory through a unique CCTV Security Room simulation of Starr Park as it appeared in 1995. In collaboration with Buck and Supercell, we created an immersive in-game experience that unraveled the mystery of Starr Park. This experience featured a dynamic soundscape, interactive sound design, and recorded voicemails that captivated players throughout the event.
Each week, the security room environment evolved, revealing more of the park's descent into chaos. Players listened to a series of frantic voicemails from park patrons, which we carefully recorded and processed to enhance the narrative.
Players experienced a dynamic soundscape that shifted overtime from the mundane ambiance of a typical security room—complete with occasional water cooler gurgles and distant co-worker chatter—to a scene of utter pandemonium, filled with screaming patrons, blaring sirens, and an unsettling ambient drone.
To deepen the lore and enrich the origin story of Brawl Stars, we included a special Easter egg: The Starr Park theme song. The song occasionally played in the control room, as if broadcast on a vintage radio, adding a nostalgic and eerie touch to the experience.
To create an immersive and tactile experience in the control room, we delved into our sound archives and foleyed a classic VCR machine. We recorded the distinct sounds of the tape whirring during rewind and fast-forward operations, as well as the button presses, ensuring an authentic auditory experience.
Fans engaged deeply with the event, sparking Reddit threads, Twitter debates, and discussions across various message boards. Ultimately, the experience garnered over 89 million views. Additionally, fans produced 8,500 videos about the event, which generated over 130 million more views from the community.
