Antfood worked closely with Meow Wolf and BUCK to soundtrack a psychedelic teaser film celebrating the opening of "Radio Tave," Meow Wolf's immersive experience in Houston.
Building the sound
Antfood used FM radios and CRT-TVs to blend realistic foley with cosmic sound design, blurring the boundaries between reality and the beyond. Analog tapestop pitch effects emphasize the transitions between worlds, heightening the sense of movement.
Musically, the project leans into retro-futuristic psychedelic rock, featuring reversed electric guitar solos, synths (Moog Voyager, Arp 2600, and modular systems), as well as flute—their contrasting sounds adding to the feeling of worlds morphing. We nod to Houston’s musical legacy with a chopped-and-screwed section.
