Sonic Language for Security Systems
Verkada is a cloud-based video surveillance and access-control company that provides security solutions for businesses, schools, hospitals, and other organizations. We helped launch their new Verkada Intercom with a bespoke suite of sounds.
Through strategic research and collaborative brainstorming, we determined a creative direction for the sounds. We drew inspiration from Verkada’s promise of a full security suite on a single pane of glass, creating sounds with a unique glassy timbre. Sound plays a vital role in realizing a seamless user experience with intuitive interactions, so we explored the intercom's user experience to determine where sound could be effective and pleasing. Our goal was to create product sounds that were distinct yet cohesive, complementing the visual design and conveying the brand’s identity: reliable, professional, modern, innovative and smart.
